Whistleblowing in Sport

This study focuses on the high supervision of sport organizations and whistleblowing in sport. For many scourges of sport such as match-fixing, corruption, etc. no test can be performed. Even in anti-doping, where test exists, confidential information can help catch cheaters. But few sport organisations have whistleblowing mechanisms in place and, in general, the high supervision of sport governing bodies is only done by the general assembly of these organisations which, despite their autonomy, are under the law of the land and must respect governance principles. Moreover, there are other mechanisms than whistleblowing for fighting sport corruption, as demonstrated by public administrations.

This study started in 2015 and will lead to a doctoral dissertation in the coming years. It is financed by IDHEAP.
