Ultra-Light High Performance Snowboard

Development of a numerical model for the ultra-light high performance snowboard

Development of a numerical model for the ultra-light high performance snowboard.

Developed in collaboration with the Swiss snowboard manufacturer Nidecker SA at Rolle, the project was aimed at designing ultralight high-performance snowboards by combining the honeycomb structure technology with an a priori control approach of their modal behavior with embedded discrete damping elements.

The optimization strategy was based on the development of a numerical model integrating both approaches and has been validated through several prototypes tested in the laboratory and in situ. The development of a performing but economical industrial process, adapted to the production line of the industrial partner, was the second objective of the project.
