Heritage Sports Events
Sport events which always take place in the same location for many years, sometimes more than a century.
This project focuses on Heritage Sport Events, i.e. sport events which always take place in the same location for many years –sometimes more than a century- (such as Wimbledon, Paris-Roubaix, Athletissima, etc.) There are many such events and they have been totally understudied in the literature which often concentrates on mega-events and one-off championships.
The project started in 2013 and will lead to a doctoral dissertation which will clarify the concept and see how it can help the territorial development of a city, region or country. It is finance by IDHEAP.
